Allports Pwllheli has won the best fish and chips shop of the year competition on the first attempt, and only after being open for just over a year and a half. Allports Portmadog did win regional title in 1995 and 1996 but couldn't claim the national prize.

Two year ago the award winning fish and chip shop in Pwllheli was just a run-down cafe, but John Allport could see the potential and began a 16-week complete refurbishment. When the work was finished the old run-down cafe had been transformed into a brightly-lit, double-fronted shop which incorporates a cafe-bar layout and clean lines.

The task ahead now for Allports is to build on this award winning formula of quality of product and customer service. This way they will remain the best fish and chip shop in Britain.
